History
In 1980's, Student Motivation Talk were initiated based on the guideline given by Mr.Manimaran (UM Lecturer) and Mr.Raman (UUM Lecturer) to the Vivekananda Self Motivation & Development Group (VSMDG).This team consists of Late Mr.Ayadurai (Senior Manager HR), Dr. Harikrishnan (HELP University) and Mr.Selvaraja (Immigration Department). Dr.Harikrishnan adopted sister, Miss Pathmadevi was appointed as the first pioneer facilitator. In 1990, Mr Asaithamby joined the group when the first motivation camp been held at SJKT Kampung Jawa, Klang and has been facilitator since then. During the year of 1995, Mr.Ettikan their first batch participant attended USM and formed a motivation team with his friends. Since the formation of the team Mr. Ettikan and his friends, Mr.Poobalan, Mr.Senthil, Mr.Subra, Ms.Kanaga, Mr.Chandra, Mr.Siva, Ms.Rubini, Ms.Shamanee and Mr.Kathir have been actively conducting motivational camps regularly while pursuing their education in USM. In 2002 their juniors Mr.Raja, Mr.Ramesh, Mr.Gopi, Mr.Munis, Mr.Nasir and Mr.Sudram joined the group and continued organizing motivational camps as selfless service to the community. Their noble act continues even after their graduation.
Under the leadership of this camp's pioneer, Mr. Asaithamby Ramayah and Ms. Pathmadevi Pichaiappan, his group of friends began to conduct the camps in more systematically. This approach has encouraged more university undergraduates and well wishers to be a part of the group.The camps are conducted regularly every year, involving a minimum of 1000 Indian students from UPSR,PMR, SPM, STPM and Undergraduates, covering the Northern Region of Malaysia mainly Penang. This selfless service began to attract Institut Pendidikan Guru Kampus Pulau Pinang (IPG KPP) undergraduates to join force similar as Mr.Kanna and Mr Mages. Mr. Kanna and Mr Mages who were from IPG KPP are our pioneer facilitator and also the first batch of IPG KPP facilitators. They attended their first camp in 2007 at SJKT Ladang Columbia, Sitiawan, Perak. As years pass new leaders emerge among students, and in the year of 2009 USM were being leaded by Mr.Nanthakumaar Thankamony, Mr.RadhaKrishnan, Mr.Shankar Ganesan, Mr, Kumanan Kandasamy and Ms. Menagaa Paraman, UUM by MR.Shankar Marimuthu, OUG Penang by Mr.Paniirselvam Jayaram while IPG KPP by MR.Ananthankumar, Mr,Purushothman Munusamy, Ms.Kalai Vaani Veluthem, Ms.Muniswari Nyanaseggren and Ms.Sivanasvari Vadivel.
In 2010 more new Facilitators joined hands with the trainee teachers. Ms.Aliza, Ms.Kasvini and Ms.P.Daarshini are the new facilitators that join IPG K PP while Mr.Kalidashan Ponnusamy and Ms.Vasumathy joined IPG Tuanku Bainun. In 2009 this team has been named as VIVEKKAM by Mr.Rajamogan Nadarajan. Due to serious commitment shown by the team members finally VIVEKAM has been successfully registered under Registrar of Society (ROS) and named as PERTUBUHAN VIVEKKAM MALAYSIA (PPM-007-07-28112012) in 2012.
We have expanded our wings to serve more students by inviting more new Facilitators and Trainers Line-Up from USM ( Ms.RubiniChelvi Anparasu), Quest International University Perak (Mr. Sasikanth Mariappan), National University of Malaysia (Ms. Shalini Varatharasan), IPGK Sultan Abdul Halim ( Mr. Moghanathan Naganathan) and IPGK Perlis( Mr.Aginish Lechumanan) and also conducting camps in various states such as Kedah, Perak, Johor,Perlis, Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Negeri Sembilan.
Currently, we have a group facilitators from different educational background, have been conducting 3 days Personal Development Programs and Self Enhancement Camps for Indian students ranging from UPSR, PMR/PT3, SPM, and STPM until UNDERGRADUATES for more than 12 years for free. Philanthropists in Penang have helped us so far by sponsoring needed items for the camp especially food. More than 10,000 students have benefited from our camps for the past 12 years and we hope VIVEKKAM will become a powerful platform for students and graduates to serve our society in a very effective way and also to make them realize and contemplate that they are the greatest asset of this country.

As Swamy Vivekananda said, "Arise, Awake and Stop Not Till Your Goal is Reached" clearly reflects our pathway for the past 20 years of our service. We have been raised from the guidance of our mentors of the real meaning to mankind. Each facilitator whom are travelling with us through this noble path has awaken their responsibility towards the betterment of our society. Ever since then, it has not put a stop to us to achieve our goal with a noble vision and mission.
The pathway has been an uphill task to maintain our great Vivekkam family has made our volunteerism and much sacrifice in the form of time, finance etc. I am extremely proud to have a great family like Vivekkam who are capable of transforming and being a role model to the future generation. Each individual in this family is a droplet of Swamy Vivekananda's soul. “If education never reaches the poor, it is the educators' responsibility to bring education to them'(Swami Vivekananda).
I am very sure that this depth intention will never fade and Vivekkam comrades are ever ready to strive for this mission. Each year, our camps are in full demand, our branches in Perak, Selangor and Johor are doing a tremendous job under the leadership of charismatic leaders, and new branches are forming with more uprising leaders in other states. For the past 5 years, we have reached out to more than 10, 000 students and instil in them the vision of being a graduate. Apart from academic programs, we have tailor made camps as well; White Lily for girls and Vetri Nayagan for boys conducted successfully with collaboration with WCC Penang, AADK, CASP, MCPF and Brahma Kumaris. The team very grateful to all the kind souls for their support and sponsorship for these special camps.
